Few questions – interview with black/death metal band from Spain - ATREXIAL.
Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc.?
Atrexial seed was planted when Naga S. Maelström chose following a darker path in parallel to his Death Metal band Human Carnage. Over the years the idea evolved and became a reality. Along with experienced and great musicians of the Spanish Black Metal scene, Atrexial became a band and recorded our debut album “Souverain”. Louen (Nyctophobia) joined the band on the vocals and Labelua (exAbrahel, exEred, exFamishgod) on drums. Atrexial evolved into a Blackened Death metal band ready to take over the stage.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
The very first demos were recorded at a home studio. The songs were perfected and improved and they got ready to be recorded in a professional studio. The chosen studio was F2F productions in Barcelona where Marc Figueras mixed and mastered the whole album..
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
We will release a first wave of 500 units on digipak format; all thanks to our label Godz ov War Productions. The whole album is also available on digital download or streaming (Youtube, Sporify, iTunes, Bandcamp, Soundcloud…).

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
Naga and Louen were on charge for the lyrics. Louen is a hardened reader on existentialism and Naga is much more influenced by occultist literature. By merging these two concepts we have created an interesting perspective that rules the whole album aligned with our insights. Fear, submission and the underworld where human darkest thoughts dwell are the foundations of Souverain.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
The logo has been designed bt Riaj Gragoth from Luciferium War Graphics (Seattle, USA) the process was easy: we just had to send him a couple of tunes and all the rest was pure inspiration from his side. The cover art has been designed by Nestor Avalos (Mexico) who also worked for bands like Bloodbath. The essence of his art totally matches with with our music and our idea for the album concept. All the other digital art, edition, photoshootings, digipak design and promo art is from Phrenetica Photography & Design (Berlin, Germany) which adapts perfectly to the band requirements and completely understands the whole concept from a very experienced perspective.
Regarding social networks, we are aware of howe important they are for spreading music and any other kind of news or art. Atrexial was a solo project and it did not require any social network as it wasn’t intended to be public but now we are a band and our aim is to reach people who are interested on the extreme metal underground. Times change and that’s how things work now.

Which label did you choose for releasing  your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
We chose Godz Ov War Productions, from Poland. It is true that we got many offers during the first month after the digital release of the album. We took our time to evaluate all the offers and we decided to sigh with GoWP because of the deal and also because Poland is one of the most influential countries on Blackened Death Metal. We got a great offer regarding the physical release of our album and they showed a huge interest on us. We deeply appreciate the Polish extreme metal legacy and we feel highly committed to that genre.
Which bands do you idolize and where do you get your inspiration?
As we said we feel respect and fascination for the Polish extreme metal scene. We come from different metal genres such as Brutal Death Metal, Doom, Grindcore, Crossover, and many others. Our inspiration comes from the depths of our personal perspective of life and from our perception of existence. It is undeniable that all bands may have musical influences, and if you take a close look into Souverain you would find some shades of Behemoth, Hate, Vader, Setherial, Dark Funeral, Sargeist and so on.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
We sent the record to some big labels in order to get an opinion from their side, but we were totally aware that we are just releasing our debut album. But we did it after we got all the offers exposed. First we released the album and posted i ton our Youtube cannel. After that many labels offered us signing with them, so we had the privilege of choosing the most suitable one for us. We appreciate the interest they all showed on us.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
Atrexial hasn’t played live yet. We have just begun our journey and the line-up has been recently completed. We will announce huge news very soon, so stay tuned! All the members of the band have played live several times with our respective bands. All gigs are good as long as the sound is as it should. Indoor venues, open air festivals, clubs and others…it does not matter if the atmosphere is the correct and we can display all our potential on stage.
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
Our plans now are preparing Atrexial for taking over the stages. We also will release Souverain on physical format along with other merchandise for live gigs and special packages. We will announce some interesting gigs, festivals and tours during these next months. We are preparing a massive live performance and we care about details, so we won’t disappoint.
How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?
Whoever wants to contact us, must do it through our Facebook or our oficial e-mail address.
Thanx for the interview.
