A few questions – interview with death metal band from Ireland - APOSTATE VIATICUM.

Answered Vinnie

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play  etc.?

Hey, we are Apostate Viaticum, a four piece from Dublin, Ireland. It all started about four years ago from the ashes of our previous bands. We play death metal, pretty much the old way. It’s not processed or digitised at all. We’ve a very laid back approach, some parts of what we do are very fast, some very slow and we also try to keep a lot of mid paced groove in there too. Vocally, it’s in a scratchy style for the main part with some deeper growls in there as well.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

We went to Trackmix Studios here in Dublin. It’s a very good studio and is well equipped for recording metal. Michael Richards produced, mixed and mastered it in conjunction with ourselves. We were present for the entire process.

How many copies  were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

1000 CDs went to press. It’s also available via digital download. It’s set for release on cassette and vinyl although we don’t know when.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

George (bass and vocals) wrote them. They deal mainly with the dark side of human nature.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Muiris (guitar and vocals) designed the logo. He also had a hand in the CD inlay and cover design. Andy (drums) looks after the facebook with some input from Muiris, I’ve no involvment with it. Social media is vital. Personally, I can appreciate it’s importance but I keep away from places like facebook and metal forums.....I’m an old school kinda guy.

Which label did you choose for releasing  your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

The album „Before the Gates of Gomorrah“ is released on Invictus Produsctions. It’s a very strong underground label and certainly a good one to be on.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Everybody’s got different preferences here as to what they listen to, although the musical inspiration behind this goes back to older stuff like early Immolation, early Bolt Thrower the old Morbid Angel demos..............

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

No, we didn’t. Invictus are based here in Dublin and picked up on a demo track we did and expressed an interest in releasing what we had. An easy lucky break to be honest.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

We’ve all been around for a very long time with other bands and individually have a lot of live experience. This band is approaching it’s tenth gig shortly. As far as playing goes, it’s more important to us to get up there with a good sound and a good dynamic within the band, regardless of the venue. There’s nothing worse than trying to play through bad speakers or on a kit that’s falling apart, or with a live engineer who doesn’t know or care what he’s doing.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

To continue as we are. Keep playing and writing for as long as we feel the fire to do so. We’d like the material to at least be heard by as many people as possible......whether they like it or not is not important.....take it or leave it.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

Via the band facebook apostate666 or at bastardsofcain@gmail.com

Thanx for the interview.

Thank you sir...Cheers,Vinnie
